Politicians think the issues with Toowoomba Base Maternity Unit it seems, only suddenly became an issue. Yes we went to the media, didn’t tell the hospital in a complaint and in politicians eyes apparently summoned a posse to whine about Toowoomba Base Maternity Unit.
Incorrect, not so. I thought I was the only one. I’ve shoved that pain and hurt into a box like I should be grateful my babies made it and I need to deal with it.
The first I heard was there is a ‘culture problem’ at Toowoomba Base Maternity Unit recently. I thought ok here we go. I gaslit myself but this place in fact appears to have issues.
At that point I was just done. I already knew this in 2013 that the maternity unit did not reflect best practice. I wasn’t going to stand for it anymore and what I went through. I contacted the courier mail. I had 4 negative outcomes with 4 births. Do they seem like good statistics for 1 person??
I’d like to ask the MALE politicians if the would be happy if they had a daughter, for her to have a baby there?? Actually a friend, any female they know for that matter.
The health minister said we never asked to meet with him. Hmmm it’s again not worth the trauma of talking to someone that won’t listen. It’s the definition of madness to keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome. This is just like complaining to a hospital that is poisoned from the top down. I wouldn’t waste my breath. I wouldn’t push through my trauma to bother doing so. Ryan’s rule was ignored why bother.
I was asked to do a survey after I had my last baby. My son who was in the courier mail. They did call me and ask if I could elaborate on the story. I told that gentleman I was too traumatised and post-partum and that I would when I could. When you’ve had a newborn if it’s been traumatic the last on the list is to complain and wade through bureaucratic garbage.
I’d like to say I did complain when I was able to. Christmas time to the courier mail. I didn’t specify who I’d tell the story to but it definitely was going to be someone listening.
