I recall as I had been hospitalised late in pregnancy after activating Ryan’s rule and the agreement change to deliver day by day meeting with another hungry pregnant mum at some ungodly hour in the kitchen.

The fridge was completely empty of food. We were starving and pregnant. We started chatting and were trying to decide what we were going to do.

I had gestational diabetes and all there was was sweet biscuits.

We were thirsty and there wasn’t any water in the fridge but milk so we made milo.

My husband also recalls having to put water in the fridge for pregnant mums. He asked the staff why there was no food. He was told that the staff member that usually does it was away so there is no one to cover for her.

Too bad if you are creating life and hungry as hell. Toowoomba Base Hospital also frequently serves deli meals to pregnant women which is on the list of not to eat while pregnant.
